I started down the school path rather late in life due to battling ovarian cancer and other health problems in my early twenties. I’ve spent much of my life on the patient-end of healthcare, which fostered a reverence for the field and a complete fascination with the human body. In my Medica Macabre series, I share cases of medical oddities, strange research experiments, and bizarre treatments.

๐ŸŽƒ The Halloqueen ๐Ÿ’€

Halloween and the autumn season have always brought me so much joy. I never feel more alive than when communally celebrating death. Ever since I was a little ghoul, Halloween has been my favorite holiday. It’s my happy place. Whenever I need to de-stress, I visualize a crisp autumn dusk, with the crunch of leaves under my feet. The wind swirls together the aroma of pumpkin spice, juicy apple, and the faint trail of extinguished firewood. Trick-or-treaters frolick around, running up and down the ghastly-clad neighborhood, giggling and shrieking. My Halloweenist series includes all things Halloween all year-round!

๐Ÿ–ค The New Mommy ๐Ÿ’œ

In 2018, I got the biggest surprise of my life! Not only did I get pregnant after being told for years by many specialists that it wouldn’t happen naturally, but our little surprise Pumpkin was born two weeks before Halloween! It was enough to bring me to my knees in awe as all the scattered pieces of my life fell into place. My fiancรฉ and I had given up on having children several years ago and resigned ourselves to being pet parents. I had accepted that being a mom was not for me and threw myself down the path of a demanding and consuming career. But now, this Spooky Mom is so grateful to say that being a mom is the most horrifically terrifying yet magical thing I’ve ever experienced, and weโ€™ve only just begun… ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽต
